Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession
Our firm is affiliated with the Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession. This disputes committee was established on 1 June 1999 and forms part of the Dutch Foundation for Consumer Complaints Boards (SGC) and the Foundation for Professionals and Businesses (SGB) in The Hague. We refer to the website of the Consumer Complaints Boards, www.degeschillendcommissie.nl, for the committee’s working method and procedures.
You can submit your complaint to the Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession no later than 12 months after the date of the written reaction from our firm.
The Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession takes decisions in the form of a settlement by arbitrage where this concerns disputes of commercial clients and in the form a binding advice in the event the dispute has been brought forward by a private client. The Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession is authorised to judge complaints regarding the quality of the services provided by the lawyer and the amount of the invoiced fee. It can be the case that you are of the opinion that you are entitled to compensation for damages. The Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession is authorised to judge claims for the compensation of damages up to a maximum amount of € 10,000.00. You can only submit claims for the compensation of damages to the Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession when you explicitly limit the amount of the claim to a maximum of € 10,000.00 and relinquish the right to claim a higher amount.
Our firm can submit unpaid invoices to the Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession for collection.
The Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession will handle the case according to the Regulations for the Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession that apply at the time the complaint is submitted to the Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession. A higher appeal cannot be lodged against the decision of the Disputes Committee for the Legal Profession.
