Jan Beelen

Lawyer – Jan joined FDJ Advocaten in 2019.  He focuses on a variety of (mostly) real estate related cases within the field of civil and (public) administrative law. He stands for an energetic, thorough and decisive approach. His way of working may not always be conventional, but is  active, creative, and effective at all times. This means practical and cooperative when possible, but tough and sharp if necessary.

 

Education

Jan has obtained his bachelor of Laws in 2017 at Leiden Law school of Leiden University. In 2019 Jan finished his master of Laws (LLM) at Leiden Law School (part of Leiden University) with results above average. During his bachelor studies, Jan studied for one semester at Jean Moulin 3 Université in – according to him the most beautiful city in Europe – Lyon (France). During his Masters Jan studied for one semester at the Universidad de Granada in Spain, and for one semester he studied law at the prestigious Law school of the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom.

 

Work experience

During this studies, Jan was active for 5 years as city councilor in the municipality of Zandvoort (also known as Amsterdam beach and for its world famous F1-circuit) and he was part of the board of a major political youth organization in the Netherlands. Before Jan joined FDJ as a paralegal, he gained professional experience while he worked for more than 3 years as an intern at a law firm in Haarlem (North Holland).

 

In his free time, Jan is very passionate about travelling with and to his international Erasmus friends from around the world, politics, reading, his Smart car, France, and a variety sports (such as Skiing and Golf).
